Mark is a good friend of mine that I met in Taiwan. He used to work in Colorado and was head of the NAAAP Chapter there before moving out to Taipei in 1998. Roger, a mutual friend of ours, had told him to look me up when he first got here.

Mark was the only person I knew in Taiwan - in spite of all the people we met through IPO - who was starting up a dotcom from scratch. Mark and I would get together just to shoot the breeze about our projects. We often envied our friends in Silicon Valley who were surrounded by the dotcom frenzy that seemed to be missing out here.

Anyway, enough about business. On a lighter note, Mark is a VERY FUNNY guy. He is sarcastic and witty and has this unusually DEEP voice that just doesn't seem to match his personality. For whatever reason, I find that funny. I really enjoy talking with him because of that, and also because he's got this funky wannabe New York accent that always makes me laugh (he's from New Jersey).
