Darlene is my best friend from college. She's got the biggest heart, and the kindest soul, and I've really got to stop talking like a freakin' drama queen but it's true! In fact, I took a public speaking course in college and chose to talk about our friendship for one of my freestyle presentations. Get this. I made some of my classmates CRY. How funny is THAT. Even after the semester was over, I was approached on at least two separate occasions in which my former classmates, who didn't recall *my* name, asked me how my friend DARLENE was doing these days! Sheesh.
Darlene and I moved to D.C. together, and then moved in together, and were roommates for as long as she remained single. Then she moved on to marry Jeff (I introduced them thank you!), got a house and now has three beautiful kids while I'm still out in Taipei trying to build a dang website! Where are my PRIORITIES I say?! You know how to tell how much you REALLY care about your friends?
When you meet their kids and instantly fall in love with and want to get to know them. Other people's kids are just, well, annoying... This little one is Matthew. When he was three I think, we spent the afternoon playing together and he kept following me around the house. At one point I had to stop by the little girl's room, leaving him outside. Matthew kept pounding on the door until I finally said, "Matthew, can you just give me one minute please?" He said, "Okayyyy... I LOVE YOU Christine!" So cute!!
