Andrea is a Mover and a Shaker. I don't know how else to describe her. She was born in Taiwan, raised in Argentina, educated in the U.S. at U Penn and later got her masters degree at National Taiwan University, otherwise known as Tai-Da. How many languages does she speak fluently? Take a wild guess and then add one more.

Andrea used to be a reporter for the Taiwan News until she landed the job as morning news anchor on ICRT covering the political front. She was also a stringer for BBC's English edition and CNNi's Spanish and English TV. I never understood why CNN sent Mike Chinoy or Andrea Koppel instead of OUR Andrea to cover the news in Hong Kong and China, but when she resigned from the network, it was most definitely their loss. She is one capable woman, and is a very sweet person as well. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to go for it.

Andrea and I first met while I was working at the Taipei offices of Wang & Li Asia Resources. She used to come to the office to visit Vivian, who was the general manager there at that time. Andrea and I didn't get to know each other that well until we both joined Vivian in reviving CAPT in the summer of '97, and we've been friends ever since. Come to think of it, CAPT has been the one thing that keeps us connected, and in fact, next to Laurie, I think I've known Andrea the longest of all the women I hang out with in Taipei. Neat huh?
