Christine at Mike's place in Taipei

"Turning point..."

Okay...................

The most difficult of my things-to-do checklist in Taipei -- understanding where we stand financially and just how generous/tight the company can be with all parties involved at this point in time -- is done.

That was such a painful exercise for me personally, but I learned a great deal.

It would have helped greatly if I had my own place and a real office to work out of, and the weird hours were just killing me, but that is neither here nor there. Mike is going to help me get back into a more healthy sleep routine; in return, I've agreed to help him eat less before he goes to bed.

That made me LOL, but let me not digress... ahem...

Draft proposals are under review this weekend, so I hope to make the formal pitch on Monday at the latest. The rest of my time in Taipei is pure execution, so after this weekend, though there is still a lot to do before I can leave, things should be happening really fast and in rapid succession.

Perfect timing, as Joann talked me into going to Kenting this weekend afterall.

Talk about last minute trip planning, but what the heck. I could use the break, plus my main source of entertainment (Mike) is in Shenzhen on business, so.

VOY A LA PLAYA! =)

I'm taking my work with me -- legal contracts and web dev. requirements are the last issues to tackle -- and will be back to Taipei Monday evening. Hopefully I'll be able to plug in on the train ride down, as it's a 7-hour trip and supposedly we are in the "special" car (lol).

I expect to get a lot of legal/technical reviews completed during that time and may even get EVERYTHING done by the time I get back -- just printed out all the docs I need to take with me, not too bad! -- so we'll see what happens.

Anything but financials... PLEASE.

There is at least one other topic of a more solemn nature that I've been wanting to write about for awhile now, but it is a tough subject to address. One of our peers in Taipei, a woman whom I was introduced to earlier this year at a CAPT Happy Hour and who was a client of Mike's, died of a heart attack recently at the young age of 28, and it's troubled me greatly ever since and has made me view things (and people) differently, one of several reasons why I haven't been sleeping well in recent days.

I'll try to get to it when I get back.

Later peeps.

Hope to get some much needed rest under the warm Kenting sun.

P.S. Check out what happened one year ago... my official return to the States after living in Taipei for almost eight years... how totally... ironic...
