Christine at Mike's place in Taipei
"Another trip to the CKS Airport..."
Look who came with us to the airport, all dressed up for the occasion... I am taking this Little One home with me, lol...
Zoe and her father (who was wearing a HelloAsia.com t-shirt!) stayed at home. Zoe is only five months old and yet check out how much HAIR she's got on her little head... gah... I'm taking her home with me too...
Everyone in the family absolutely adores these girls, as they are the first of our fourth generation present (so my Wypoh is their Lao Nai Nai and I am their "Da Gu"), but what I want to know is, since when did "Smile!" mean "Smirk!"
May this be the last trip I make to CKS before I myself am the one getting on the plane... sheesh...
I took the Airbus back to the Hyatt, dropped my bags off at Ginny's showroom, took off for my old apartment to mail off ONE LAST BOX of my things in the rain no less, talked to Connie for a bit, picked up some sandwiches at Subway and had lunch and then coffee with Ginny at the Taipei Exhibition Hall.
Ginny had a LOT to say about life in Taipei, about life elsewhere, and about life in general -- she herself just spent two months in New York and will be headed back to the States at the end of this month -- and yet all I could do was smile, listen, and nod emphatically, as I am going through the exact... same... thing.
"I hear ya, girlfriend! I hear ya!"
Listening to her talk was like listening to MYSELF talk in recent days. We are living parallel lives and I guess that's why we are friends, eh?
I am on my way back to Mike's place and will be spending the rest of my time in Taipei working like a mad dog.
We'll see who gets to leave Taipei first.
Her... or me. =)
I will say, however, that I really admire her conviction to make a life for herself in the States. I had that same conviction on more than one occasion, but to date, I have yet to really establish myself there...
Begin violins in the background...
