Sunday again, February 9th
Christine in Taipei

I've been going to bed every night, trying to remember what I did that day, but I keep drawing blanks in my head.

Alas.

I've lost my mind.

So, as of this entry, I'm going to LIST it here until I can answer that question for myself like normal people.

But before I begin, I just wanted to state here for the record that I did stop for about ten minutes yesterday to actually use the site, and during that entire ten minutes, I kept exclaiming,

"GAH... this is one VERY cool site!"

But that was all the time I had to play.

Sunday's LIST:

  • Defined, drafted, and reviewed with Settha all at the last minute, the Basic and Premium Membership Packages for individuals, and then wrote and coded the content in the appropriate login pages (okay so I started this on Saturday)

This exercise opened up my eyes to EXACTLY how match-making sites work (or should work), without even intending to do so... WOW!

  • Finalized the content on the Homepage, and added the appropriate links. It ain't the sexiest Homepage I've ever seen, but it will do for now.

  • Identified all areas on the site where we need to add confirmation text (you have successfully blah blah blah) and advertising banner, and then reviewed with Settha (okay this was started yesterday, too)

  • Discussed with Settha (twice over because the first time we didn't finish the conversation, lol...) how the newsletter sign-up component of the Happy Hour site will interact with the subscribe/unsubscribe feature in the individual account control panels of .COM

  • Discussed with Settha the strategy in which we invite those who already have profiles, and those on our Happy Hour mailing list, back to the site, and with the appropriate instructions

  • This is when we realized that we'll need to allow Members to modify both their passwords AND usernames, for those email addresses from the Happy Hour list who (duh) don't yet have usernames. So Settha had to go back and reprogram this part.

  • Updated and reviewed the privacy statement pages of both .COM and the Happy Hour site, and updated the OHH About Us section, as well.

  • Created the ugliest graphic I have ever made in my entire life to stick on the right-hand nav bar of the Happy Hour site so that site visitors can find their way back to .COM

  • Started re-working the text for the "other cities?" selection of the city-guide drop down button to explain what the "Quick Jump" city guides were for and got stuck because

    • Our People Directory is Global
    • Our Business Directories only cover Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei
    • Our Happy Hours are in those cities plus Tokyo, San Francisco, and New York

There was no way I could explain that! Reviewed with Settha, we realized that that drop down needed to be removed for now. More changes.

  • If I did anything else today, now I really don't remember.
Again, Settha is covering back-end planning and programming. I am covering program definition, content development, and advertising spots, though Settha plays a big role in all of that, too.

The rest of the staff gets back from vacation tomorrow THANK GOD.

I hope there's no ancient Chinese proverb that will jinx me for saying this, but I've never been more glad that Chinese New Year holiday is OVER!
