Saturday, December 15th
On this date last year...
"Home for the holidays..."
Cindy and I had to get up around 5:30 a.m. so that I could catch my 8 a.m. flight -- dang that's early and boy do I ever owe that girl. This was the conversation we had as we pulled up to Terminal 2 where American Airlines is located at SFO:
Her: "You SURE you're on American Airlines?"
Me: "Pretty sure!"
Her: "You SURE it's not US Air?"
Me: "I THINK so, though I'd have to check..."
Her: "Yeah, maybe you should..."
Me: "Okay, my itinerary is in my bag in the trunk..."
Cindy pulled over in front of the American Airlines drop off while I ran around to the trunk of her car to get my itinerary. Back in the passenger seat, I gasped,
"Oops! You're RIGHT Cin... it is US Air!"
And as we drove around the airport once again to get to Terminal 1, I said to her,
"Bet you've never driven on this road before!"
I swear I do not know what is wrong with me when it comes to FLYING. I guess because I've done so much of it over the years and treat it as such a CHORE, I just don't bother to look at my schedule until the night before any more, and that's only if I'm in the right mood.
Is it just me?

"First domestic flight since September 11th..."
I was totally APPALLED at the line to the check-in counters. What a nightmare! It wrapped around and extended to the next BUILDING and I'm like, HUH UH. There ain't no way I'm going to wait through this!
Since I didn't have any bags to check in, I went directly to security check to see if I could go straight to the gate with my E-ticket printout. Sure enough, I could. In hindsight, I'm thinking to myself that ANYONE can create a false itinerary that looked like what I had! Even me. This new "system" is NO GOOD.
But that's for another day.
I was just happy that I got to bypass everyone else. One thing I noticed though was that the people around me were friendly and polite in general, and orderly, if nothing else. Very willing to help each other out and respectful of each other's space. So different than what I'm used to in Taipei.
The flight over was long but okay. Nothing too terribly exciting happened, though I WAS feeling uncomfortable with the SIZE of everyone around me. Americans are freakin' BIG. In Taipei, I often felt like a BIG person myself, but back in the U.S., I'm feeling awfully --> tiny.
Is that normal?
ANYWAY... I flew in just in time for Dad's surprise birthday dinner celebration. He knew that my brother and Diane were coming in town, but he had no idea that Mom was throwing him a surprise party for his 60th birthday, nor did he know that I was flying in from Taipei to be in attendance. He was happy.
It was good to be home, but MAN was I tired.
Now it's time for me to recuperate.
I promised May and Ginny that I would take the time to RELAX for the next few weeks. They both think I need to take a step back from ORIENTED and "free my mind" a bit. And also, Ginny gave me some fabulous ideas just before I left for the States. My business plan has gotten so complicated... it doesn't have to be that way.
After all the guests left, I slept for the next 20 hours. Mom yelled at me for that. "How can ANYONE sleep for 20 hours?", she said. Like I said, it ain't easy being me. It's Monday morning as I type this Saturday entry. I didn't get up on Sunday, so... no entry for that day.
LOL.
