On this date last year...
"That I'm even taking a break..."
... is probably not FORGIVEABLE but what the hell. I've been working my #&*% off. And it hurts! Literally! OUCH. First order of business: I'm hitting my annual quota for my work work not on time but EARLY. So for those of you who think I totally slack off at the office, I just want you to know that, BABY YOU SUCK.
LOL!
Second order of business: The ORIENTED business plan
I can't believe this is actually happening, but what was considered my little war chest is also turning into a big sore spot for me as I attempt to spin .ORG into a .COM business.
For one thing, I was planning to charge for classified ads. It seems reasonable enough, and there are a number of community and news websites that can and do charge for this, but given that these folks have been posting for free for the past TWO years, you think they'd be willing to start paying NOW?
Heck no!
And I can't be charging for this in other cities if in Taiwan this stuff's for free. But that's okay. It's not that big of a deal but it does change things a bit. Taiwan isn't a large nor is it a growing area with respect to our overall market, but the current user base from the .ORG website is significant, and most definitely relevant.
How the current website will co-exist with the new one is going to be a whoppin' HUGE challenge, as presently, it's understood that the former will remain "as is".
So what does that mean for ORIENTED.COM?
We'll see what happens because as it stands I really have no idea, but I wanted to post this here for my own records and am crossing my fingers that we'll find a happy solution for all parties involved.
It's a tough one.
"Think Christine... think! Tap tap tap!"
