On this date last year...
"Too much of nothing..."
Yesterday was cool. I guess. I plopped myself at a coffee shop and finally nudged out a revenue schedule for ORIENTED dotcom and was so happy about it that I ran home and BLASTED J. LO for the rest of the afternoon before heading off to Sarah's wedding at the Exchange Club. That song "Dance with me" has the most AMAZING piano backdrop, and yeah, I could not but try and nudge out the tune on my rental. The chords are so simple, GAH.
I was reminded of my college days when I had to share a ride with my dad into town after my car was stolen and having to fight with him every morning about what music we were going to listen to. Our daily conversations were as follows, him speaking in Mandarin and me in English:
Him: "Ayah! Yo lai le!" (English: Gah! Again?!)
Me: "YES Dad. I *have* to listen to this to wake up. Your
classical music tapes will make me fall ASLEEP in class!"
Him: "Hao hsiang nian jing!"
He was comparing hip hop music to those repetitive Buddhist prayers. You know. Ometofu... ometofu... ometofu... Then again, I do have this running theory that Jennifer Lopez was Chinese in her past life. Maybe she was a Chinese monk of some sort?

Sarah Wang's reception last night at Hong Kuo.
I ran into Sarah at the Convention Center earlier this year. She used to work for Standard Chartered when I was with Citibank before she moved back to the bay area but comes back regularly on business. Unfortunately I have run out of time to elaborate on last night's events but suffice it to say that it was a very nice wedding ceremony, and the "Americans" at our table were, per usual, loud and obnoxious. LOL!
I also went to see Rush Hour 2 -- AGAIN -- with Flora and John. What can I say. I LOVE THAT MOVIE. So that's what I did on my day off. Here's a picture (above) of Flora stealing the leftover alcohol from the tables. More photos from the wedding:
Today felt like a Monday. It was fully loaded. I did have a good laugh though reading Ernie's October 9th entry entitled "The High School Graduation Story". I could barely contain myself.
Other than that, I was busy as HECK today. I can't believe that I am once again revising the figures in my business plan. It's been a really long time, but this is it. No more. Last but not least, I got a surprise visit from these lovely ladies. Cute. The topic of discussion lead us to believe that we were slowly but surely getting back to normalcy. Crypic. I know. But whatever. LOL!
