"Fact."
There's always something going on in Taipei. Always. Last night we got together with a bunch of old friends and met some new folks as well. Inevitably new people ask 'old' people how long they've been living in Taiwan, and inevitably the answer is, "I only planned to stay for _ years but I've been here for _ and still counting." Sandin and Felicia both agreed with the others. Taipei is too much fun.
To start the night out, we had Ladies' Night Out dinner at Mytknoes (sp?), the Greek restaurant at Yong-Kang Street. We normally get together on the third weekend of the month, but because of the CAPT beach party last weekend, the dinner was postponed until last night. We didn't realize until after the fact that it was --> Chinese Valentine's Day. AWWWWW!

A virtual rose according to Acer Ginny.
Cool beans. So ten of us got together and also celebrated Felicia's going away thingy since she is moving to Kaohsiung next week. Sad. We had fun though. These chicks are crazy, and the food was YUMMY.
But the highlight of the evening had to have been when Beetel Nut Paul showed up out of nowhere and presented *each* of us with ----> a rose. And they were indeed beautiful. He and his friend Dennis heard about our dinner and decided to surprise us and MAN we were ever! How SWEET. (more photos coming soon).
After dinner we headed for Sean's Pub at the Westin Hotel to listen to music and dance as best we could to the music as it presented itself. The live band itself was pretty good, they sang well and were quite coordinated, but when someone brought up the idea of requesting some hip hop, someone else said, "You think they know what hip hop is?" LOL.
I tell ya.
Top 10 songs with the occasional "Ceeeeeelebrate Good Times, Come On!" reruns make me do strange things on the dance floor. I was in rare form last night according to my housemates. No pun intended.
Romeo I mean Dennis joined us there, as well as Joe Pesci I mean James no I mean BENICIO as he now wishes to be addressed, and from there we went to a house party that had a number of us exclaiming, THIS IS JUST LIKE A HOUSE PARTY IN NEW YORK CITY! Because well, it was. The crowd, the music, the interiors, it was all so... New York. That's when I looked around me and realized that I was surrounded by New Yorkers. Sandin, Felicia, Wayne Sun, Benicio.
The other thing I realized is that we have quite a number of boys now living around us. Friendships in Taipei is all about proximity. If you can't come out and play on call, then what good are you?! LOL! I think I'm going to make some changes on the social front and drag the boys out more often. YEAH. I also need to update my "Who's Who" list, big time.
After the house party, at around 2 a.m., we headed over to Vacuum Space, we being Judy, Wennie, Linda, Sandin, Felicia, and Benicio. Weird right? I rarely stay out passed midnight -- in fact Judy was saying that I should change my site name to HeyPrincess.com -- but Felicia is leaving, and I promised to party with them for the entire evening. OUCH.
Other observations. Vacuum Space is SO much nicer since its renovations. And, they have a pretty cool website. I'm impressed. The other thing is, Judy's car is a freakin' party zone in and of itself. No pun intended there either. GO JUDY!
Snippets of conversations that took place throughout the evening:
Sandin: "What does L-O-L mean anyway?"
Others: "LAUGHING, OUT, LOUD!"
Sandin: "Oh. I thought it was one of Christine's Southern terms,
like Lord Oh Lord."
Me: "Sandin you mean you never knew what I meant when
I used it in all the emails I wrote you?!"
Lordy, Lordy, Lordy....
Me: "Hey... Wayne... I had no idea you could dance."
Him: "Of course."
Me: "Well. You just didn't strike me as the type of guy who can dance."
Him: "Hey. I'm from New YORK."
Me: "True. Very true. Even Mark and Jay have rhythm."
And then I started imitating them. LOL! I gotta say, New York City trains 'em well. Then Felicia and I looked over at Benicio who was doing his thing. So I noted:
Me: "You sure he's spent some time in New York."
Felicia: "He used to live there, but he's really a West Coast boy."
Me: "Ah."
You know you've been in Taiwan too long when... you have conversations like these, which took place while driving around in Judy's car, listening to Jennifer Lopez:
Me: "I LOVE Jennifer Lopez! Is this her CD?"
Judy: "Yeah. It's her newest album. Jay Loh."
Me: "Huh? Who is Jay Loh."
Judy: "JENNIFER LOPEZ, YOU IDIOT."
Me: "Oh, oops. Sorry."
LOL!
Initiations to Taipei includes an official shot at the local 7-11...
Last but not least and completely unrelated to the above, I just simplified my Homepage in a huge, huge way. No more pop-up windows less my Who's Who list, no more graphics, no more still picture changes, etc. I've even resorted to font size 1. Woah. The only thing I'm still trying to figure out is how to stick the hit counter back on without the webcam image updates artificially bumping it up.
Old Homepage New Homepage
I also want to write up what's been going on in my head as of late. Will do that very soon. Some pretty heavy duty stuff. But it's all good.
