"Is it July ALREADY?!"

Help... I'm whimpering... scared... Aside from the Email Bulletin and my work work, I'm spending the day trying to catch up with myself. It's been a little rough.

Random events of the past week:

Sandin and Katy pulled in a few nights ago. Sandin is here for awhile, Katy's just in town to visit. I tried to snap a "welcome photo" (lol) but it was too dark for my darn pencam to work. Oh well. Katy's here for awhile longer so I'm sure they'll be plenty of opportunities. Both are really nice girls.

Anyway, aside from the first night they arrived when I also got to meet their father... I've barely seen them. I've been so busy (yeah yeah yeah) and they have a ton of family obligations to meet. How very typical of ABCs visiting Taipei.

Having relatives in Taiwan is nice for the most part, it makes the transition easier that's for sure, but sometimes... it can be a total nightmare. I remember the first year when I got here, I very much resented having to attend all of the family gatherings and holiday events. I *hated* it, actually, because all my life in the U.S., I never had *any* family obligations. My parents never even gave me RED ENVELOPES for Chinese New Year (so unfair!). Very Americanized household I grew up in, relatively speaking, which I've always appreciated. Anyway, I digress.

Our familiy reunion is also coming up soon, and I've been asked to play the piano at the event. Sigh... though I play almost every day, I usually just goof around and pretend to be a Chinese version of Mariah Carey on ivory keys. I haven't sat down and really practiced practiced for a very long time... not sure if I can pull this one off. Think my Wypoh would appreciate a take from Mariah Carey's Greatest Hits?

These photos are of Rene's friend Shinn that I took on Friday night outside of Tickle My Fantasy. I had tried taking pictures of the other folks that were hangin' out but for some retarded reason only these of Shinn came out. Oh well. At least he's ccccccute! Not complaining (wink wink). Of course Rene was supposed to come out to Taipei to visit too but did he come? NO HE DID NOT.

Shinn is a former colleague of Rene's whom I met when I visited Rene's offices in the bay area over New Years. I did not know until MUCH MUCH later that Shinn is an old friend of Acer Ginny's. SCARY HOW SMALL THIS WORLD IS.

Can't remember what else is going on but my life in recent days has been a total circus. Felicia is on her way to get the keys from me as I write this and I haven't even finished packing all of Laurie's things. I keep forgetting to bring home boxes from work to finish off the packing. In the meantime, much of her stuff still sits in my place. I get tired just thinking about all that I have to do...

(I'm whimpering... help... somebody please save me... sniff sniff... I'm sad...).

More about yesterday...

Late in the afternoon, Acer Ginny calls from outside and wanted to grab dinner. Next thing you know, she's offered to COOK for me. WHY, SURE! THANKS! I'LL BE RIGHT THERE! And on the way over, I ran into Angela, who was also headed her way. By the time the evening rolled around, Ginny joined us as well, along with Acer Ginny's two housemates and their friends. So many women! WOW.

Acer Ginny is so sweet... she brought me two gifts from the U.S. One was a box of SMORS (more chocolate!). The other was a wrapped up stick of... mascara. I wonder if she was trying to tell me something? Hmmm... hmmmm.... HMMMM!!! Okay I have small eyes but STILL -- WHAT WAS SHE TRYING TO SAY?!

Speaking of chocolate, in the past three weeks I have received CHOCOLATE GIFTS GALORE from everyone who has come to town. First it was Brent, then Sandin and Katy, then Acer Ginny and then today... Wennie! Wennie just got back from Beijing and brought me a bag of Toblerones this afternoon! My frig at home is *packed* with nothing but boxes of chocolate! Hhhhhhhhhhhhelp!!!!

ANYWAY... here are more pictures from last night at Acer Ginny's house. The conversations that took place amongst us women friends were just AWFUL! So bad that it puts dialogue from "Sex and the City" to SHAME! I can't even talk about it here but maybe Acer Ginny will elaborate on her own blog. Horrible...

The only thing I will mention is that ONE of the girls brought up a pet peeve that has forever changed the way we perceive men on the dance floor who um... clap.

Last but not least, here is dearest Ginny, unable to hold back her laughter as she went through Acer Ginny's most elaborate photo album. Terrible... terrible... oh and before I forget. Ginny did a terrible thing a few weeks ago... she did NOT tell us it was her birthday. And since Acer Ginny's birthday is next weekend, we are going to throw a combined party for GINNY and GINNY! Yes!
