That GOSH DARN EB!

So in-between Nelson's "Marathons in Vegas", I've been trying to figure out how I can logon to the Internet to do the Email Bulletin, but I didn't start panicking until I woke up this morning at around 11 a.m. While everyone else was still sleeping, I jumped up and thought, HELP! Let me go to the Business Center!

I don’t even think I changed (went to bed in my jeans shorts?). I quietly fumbled around for the room key, thinking I could get back before everyone got up, but just as I was about to walk out the door, I noticed not two but THREE bodies in the master bed. Curiosity got the best of me so I snuck over and leaned in to see who it was.

Steve Leu?!

HUH?! It's bad enough that we're all crashing with the newlyweds but what the heck is STEVE LEU doing in BED with them?! I did not have time to figure it out. I ran down to the Business Center, checked out the prices and said WHAT ARE YOU NUTS, ran back, and woke up Nelson as a last resort to help me figure out what to do. I had to get that EB out.

Nelson of course, came to the rescue. "Just install AOL! The software is already in your computer!" Of course! Sure thing! Why not! Fact is that I moved to Taiwan just before AOL got popular so for better or for worse I am one of the few Americans who isn't familiar with using AOL and find the icon on my desktop downright annoying! So shoot me!

In any case, I got online and was able to finish most of the Email Bulletin before lunch. WHEW. What a pain in the ***.

A much needed vacation... sort of.

I took a break and had lunch with everyone else down at the food court. Got myself a tuna sandwich. YUMMY, although I noticed that prices in Vegas are the same in Taipei. Lunch was fun because we were trying to convince some of the guys that dating need not be so DEFINITIVE and that they have nothing to lose by asking a woman out! With Cindy in the house, you can't go wrong because she is all about DAT. Snap snap! Jim also had some ideas on how he could "help" his little brother. 'Twas interesting.

After lunch, everyone went their separate ways. I went back up to the room (to finish the EB) with Nelson and Quynh who wanted to rest. Later, the three of us went down to the pool (though admittedly I took forever getting off the computer, I thought Quynh was going to kill me at one point). Matt joined us a little later, and that was cool too! Matt is the founder of CDNow, the site design we initially copied for ORIENTED dotorg!

Going to the pool did us all a lot of good. I really miss the days... Afterwards, we were on a tight schedule as we needed to eat dinner and make it to the 10 p.m. show. Timing worked out in my favor to send out the EB, as 7 p.m. Vegas time was 10 a.m. Taipei Time, Monday morning. So while everyone else got ready, I did my thing (with Gus' help, of course, had some problems accessing certain parts of the site). Am I committed or WHAT.

I stayed back for a little bit as I needed to wrap up some site admin, but Jim Lee was late too, so we went down to the restaurant together. I had just checked my email and realized that I had better figure out my outbound flight ASAP if I wanted to try and get to Seattle.

Staying focused.

To make a long story short, I ended up not going to see the show with the rest of the gang and stayed instead at the head of the 20-person table at the restaurant, using Cindy's cell phone to figure out my travel plans. I must have looked like a total LOSER sitting there at that busy restaurant by myself, but in actuality... I rather enjoyed the noisy silence. Even ordered myself a tall latte and kicked back with pen and paper in hand, expecting the worst.

It was a headache, but I finally figured out a game plan. Since NW partners with American West to L.A. and with Alaska Air to Seattle, I had to get my ticket reissued so that I could fly standby tomorrow. By the time I got back up the room, got my tickets, got to the airport, changed my ticket and came back to the "city", it was already midnight and the gang just got out of the show. I WAS COMPLETELY WIRED.

Our next stop was the Gonzales Y Gonzales at the New York New York (hello hello?), where we learned exactly what happened to the boys last night after the Voodoo Cafe. Apparently, they ditched the girls and went to a strip bar, all except Nik who "lost focus" (he stayed back with the girls, shame shame); Eric went, but was found later hanging onto a tree; and Jim had a grand time except that he woke up this morning next to a naked man.

I'm still not quite sure how Young Steve ended up in bed with Quynh and Nelson, but apparently they had a brief conversation before passing out. Quynh had asked Steve if he had a good time at the strip bar. Steve said, "Well, there were a lot of hoochie mamas."

A bunch of us went up to the room and talked until 5 a.m., and then Steve and I took off to go gambling when we ran into Jim Lee downstairs. He joined us in losing our money. Once we got back, I had just positioned myself between Quynh and Cindy when Brent came by and dragged me back out! He wanted to go to the pool in half an hour, at 7:00 a.m.!

Next thing I knew, it was 11:00 a.m. Monday morning, and I was lying in between JIM AND BRENT in THEIR BED. I'm too scared to ask. HELP!
