Saturday, May 26th Nelson is SUCH a geek! The next thing I knew, it was 8:30 a.m. and Nelson was WIDE AWAKE, calling everyone to get up to go play SOFTBALL out in the middle of NOWHERE. I was in sooo much pain but could do nothing except lie under the covers and whimper quietly (though Mark heard me), "Geek... Nelson is such a geek..." while Nelson relentlessly went at it. I do not know HOW I actually got up and got dressed, but by the time we were ready to go, I was standing in the hallway, screaming at the top of my lungs at Nelson who was still in the room making last minute arrangements:
can get SEVENTEEN PEOPLE up at TEN in the morning to play SOFTBALL in 100 degrees heat in LAS VEGAS!" Next thing I knew, security came running down the hall, telling me to keep it down and that I was disturbing the other guests, so I told her about Nelson being such a geek. By the time I finished my story, she completely agreed with me and started bashing him too. See?! Evidently, Nelson planned EVERYTHING. Quynh just got in from Hong Kong (trip to China as part of her MBA program), Mark from Singapore (Citicorp business trip from NY), me from Taipei/SFO (what's my name again?) and we were all too tired to fight him.

This is a picture of me and Quynh as we sat outside of the hotel, while Nelson was in the lobby assigning carpools for everyone to get to the softball field. Nelson is such a geek. We all concluded that he is COMPLETELY out-of-control, and yet, none of us have ever said "no" to him. Not even me. Now THAT says something about Nelson... but he's still a geek.
I still can't believe that Nelson could pull something like this off. Even *I* couldn't do it. I positioned myself as cheerleader (slept on the bench) while everyone else chased a little softball around in the middle of nowhere. Nelson never looked happier. Whatever.
![]() It was a challenge trying to get back to the Venetian Hotel. Angela dropped us off at the Bellagio, and it took us half an hour of running around the casino and fighting with the guest elevators before we realized we were NOT at the Venetian (us being me, Nik, and Brent, the other psycho in the house). By that time, it was late.
![]() Nevertheless, Mark and I endeavored to go to the pool with Jim Lee and had a total blast there. Mark is on some kind of drug. Never seen him so GIDDY in my entire life. Anyway, when we got back to the room, Cindy was in the house -- and it was great to see her -- along with Jim and his younger brother Steve. They just got in from San Francisco.
It was great to see Jim too, and to finally meet Steve whom I've heard so much about. I have never known anyone to speak so highly of a younger brother than Jim does of Steve. It was interesting getting to know him and seeing Jim as the "older" brother, because when I first met Jim, he was just a LIL' KID himself. 22 I think! He's all grown up now. Weird.
Nelson was INSISTANT that we all be at dinner by 4:30 p.m. Apparently, because of the Memorial Day holiday, it was impossible to get later reservations, and because Nelson was INSISTANT that we all be on time, we all stumbled over ourselves to get to the restaurant Dinner was a lot of fun, with all of the guests in Vegas and in attendance. Cindy and I finally got a chance to catch up, and MAN did we have a lot to talk about. Mark endeavored to interrupt whenever he could (he's had a secret crush on me forever but denies it, sigh...). We also got to know Sam and Helena. Helena is a total RIOT, as we were to discover later on.
![]() Afterwards we went up to the Voodoo Cafe at the Rio. That place totally KICKS ASS. We hung out there for quite a long time -- and supposedly I passed out sitting in my chair -- but afterwards Quynh wanted to take it easy so she, Cindy, and I headed back and took Mark to the airport. Mark was catching the red-eye to New York for another wedding he had to attend. As it turns out, my brother will be at that one. Altogether now --> SMALL WORLD.
Anyway, AGAIN, Mark couldn't keep his hands to himself, that little slut. Somebody help!
