"Saturday logistics..."

We ORIGINALLY planned it such that Walter and I would hang out in Hong Kong with Ronnie over the weekend, as well as with Corrina, Alvin and the kids, but I couldn't get a flight out of Shanghai in the a.m. and therefore didn't leave until 4:30 p.m. It's a national holiday next week so apparently all flights were booked to Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, as I'm on waiting list for 4 flights in the morning, Walter and Ronnie somehow got themselves flights for 9:00 a.m. AFTER I put myself on the wait list! Those turkeys! They took my seat! Argh! Lol...

So... I ended up sticking around and having lunch with Jim, Sophia and her husband Steven which was nice, and Sunny came up and joined us too. It felt kind of rushed as I had to get back to Jim's place to get my stuff before heading off for the airport (stopped by Steven and Sophia's place as well), but whatever. 'Twas fun nonetheless. =)

Small world it appears. Will have to elaborate later.

The flight was relatively uneventful though I repeat -- Hong Qiao Airport SUCKS -- and at the Hong Kong airport I finally met up with Corrina and Alvin. Haven't seen them in exactly 1 year and 2 weeks, since last year when they came to visit me in Taipei. Sheesh. Time flies, yet the both of them look exactly the same (and on my way back this time Corrina once again supplied me with 2 cans of Chef Boy-Ardee Beef Ravioli, which I gracefully accepted with glee, lol).

I should also mention that they do in fact drive a Volvo in Hong Kong.

ROFL!

Corrina made reservations at the very same Spanish restaurant at the Mid-Levels where she took me and Walter back in 1996 -- it's like being in a time warp or something -- and Walter and Ronnie joined us there soon after. There we stayed and ate and dranked and laughed and listened to Ronnie's adventures in Beijing, until we were the last ones left at the restaurant.

A memorably fun evening with some very old friends.

Note: The dinner bill was ~ HK$1,000 which I put on my credit card. Evidently I had tipped the waitress the exact same amount, and I didn't even know it until she came back and asked me if I REALLY wanted to do that... a good indication of where my mind was at this weekend. Somebody help me please. Help!!!
