Wednesday, March 21th Up close and personal... After watching BIG DADDY DU last night with David and Adella, I dragged myself back out to the night market -- in the RAIN no less -- to pick up a CD rack for my officecam.
![]() Creative, yes? No one sat in the cubicle next to mine until now, so I was able to place the officecam on top of the hard drive next door. Then yesterday, I was informed that someone would be coming in today and that I probably can't leave my webcam there any more. My reaction? No problemo! I'll take care of it. And so I did.
![]() The good thing is, the CD holder has actually turned into a mini-bookshelf. My desk is a lot tidier now. The bad thing is, "Gus" and I are looking rather LARGE on the officecam since it is a lot closer to us than it was before. I'm only five feet tall and "Gus" is only two INCHES tall, but he now looks bigger than my ENTIRE HEAD. Sigh... what can we do. Nada.

At the night market, I intended to get the CD rack and hurry back home, but a pair of shoes caught my attention. I am not a shopper by any means -- in fact I think of shopping as one, huge, pain-in-the-butt chore -- but this pair of shoes has a bit of history behind it.
![]() Mandy was wearing a pair just like it when I ran into her at O'Ginny's last November (and I claim to have a bad memory, cough cough...) and I had asked her where she got them from. She said I could pick them up at any night market, but I've been to several since then (for other reasons) and never saw them before. Last night, I got lucky, so I picked up a pair.
![]() What is so cool about women's shoes at these night markets is that they are so CHEAP. This pair cost me US$10. WHO CARES about quality. The key is that there are so many cool styles to choose from that you can buy all kinds of funky-looking ones, wear them until they break, and trash them. Like a flavor of the week. Disposable shoes... YEAH BABY.

![]() The website, service, or product displayed here is used and/or endorsed by Yours Truly. On Beef Noodle Soup... Beef Noodle Soup was actually a component of ORIENTED that I really wanted to see happen. It was inspired by the WACKY and TACKY conversations that used to take place between Quynh, Jun, John Scatoloni, and myself during lunch here at the TWTC.
![]() After Quynh and John left Taiwan, Jun and I often reminisced about the "lunch crowd" and somehow came up with the idea of Beef Noodle Soup. Gus was also portrayed in the stories (LOL). Carol drew up the illustrations for us (click here to guess who's REALLY who...), and Jun came up with most of the scripts that we've been sitting on ever since we soft-launched. The Scenario was written by Jun. Though it may sound completely off the wall, the sentiments conveyed were from the heart (both his and mine). Jun is a true writer.
![]() Unfortunately, the endeavor required more effort than we could afford -- particularly since Jun left Taiwan last year -- so what was once "Coming Soon" is now: "Never Coming". Oh well. It's AWESOME that I can document such things on *this* site, and I have no regrets. Who knows what may come of it in the future. Never before released:
