Monday, March 19th Tired... I can't remember how we got on the topic but last night at the apartment, Adella and I started talking about the 921 earthquake and what we both were doing at the time. Adella was actually *in* Taichung the day before the earthquake and almost stayed an extra night. I had just come back from visiting Corrina and Alvin over the weekend in Hong Kong.
![]() I admitted to breaking down on Day 3 (briefly, of course, cough cough...). Apparently, she did too. I doubt those who were wide awake when the 921 earthquake hit will ever forget the experience. Anyway, didn't mean to muse like that. My point is that I went to bed thinking about it and I couldn't sleep for the longest time, like 3ish maybe? Dunno. I woke up tired.

I almost feel like I can publish those things with my eyes closed. I do wish we got a little more feedback about whether or not they are even useful, but I guess by the fact that we rarely get people leaving the list is a good sign (and I can guess which of those are friends of mine who never read them but are too embarrassed to unsubscribe, wink wink).
![]() My countenance in the shot above was actually my reaction that I caught on the officecam upon reading an email I got this morning from a guy named Adam Tow who apparently lives in the bay area. I was a little embarrassed. This is what he wrote: Christine: I received a guestbook entry on my web site the other day from someone who found my site (http://www.tow.com/) through Eric Cheng's web site (http://www.echeng.com/). I went to your journal entry on 3/15/2001, and was surprised to see a photo that I had taken of Eric at my house on your web page (which he's using as his 2001 bio picture)! How bizarre is THAT. So I went over to Adam's site and spent an *ungodly* amount of time there. His Ultimate Dislocation section totally cracked me up. Apparently he dislocated his arm while playing Ultimate Frisbee and somehow managed to capture the ENTIRE event on camera. That is AMAZING. Gods. Click on the first shot to get to his site:

The only reason I was drawn to Adam's Ultimate Dislocation link in the first place is because of all the recent connections I've had through Ultimate Frisbee, of all things. Razorfish David initially contacted me through Albert Y. who was a die-hard player when he was living here. Running into Josh H. the other night was pretty wild too because they (Albert and Josh) hung out a lot, since Josh heads the Ultimate Frisbee group here. But even MORE bizarre was finding out from Josh that he (Josh) went to school with Paul K. and that Paul had asked him recently if he knew me. Paul was one of my contact windows for the HAAS Asian Business Conference sponsorship promotional, which of course was brought to my attention by Martin D. Gods. It's sick how we're all connected.
So anyway, I then went into a series of email exchanges with both Adam and Eric, and everyone signed everyone else's Guestbook. Very cute. On my Guestbook, Adam gave me an open invite when I'm back in the U.S. and Eric said he may be in Taiwan soon to visit his grandparents.
How cool is that?

Of the many things to be gained from it, you get to meet new people with similar backgrounds and interests. Would it be better if I just sat in front of my computer FOREVER and never met anyone new because of it? I THINK NOT. Who knows... maybe I'll even meet my future husband from my site, and I'm being most serious when I say that. It's effective, efficient, and terribly clever, no? Though I was being borderline sarcastic with my entry about Eric (well, truthfully, I am always borderline sarcastic, LOVE me or LEAVE me baby!), he actually comes closest to someone I'd want to marry... if only he were about ten years older. LOL! I told him so in an email, and his response was, "I've never received a marriage proposal via email before!" Err... I didn't know I was proposing. ANYWAY... Ginny stopped by briefly today. Busy girl.

Also worthy of note. Adam's Ultimate Dislocation page was last updated on February 23, 2001. Earlier today, I had also cruised over to Sam's page to see what he was up to (he's kind of funny). I was visitor #2023. I'm forever stuck with the number 23. Ain't a bad thing.
