MJ at Patty's place...

Per usual, MJ last night was tons of fun. Fact is that when there is at least ONE loud and obnoxious and highly-competitive person playing at the table, the entire evening shall be full of fun and excitement. In our case, there were *four* obnoxious people, and then there was Patty -- the Brit. I had my camera with me so I took a bunch of random photos.

Between Mike's wiggling, Wayne's arrogance, Ben's "everything is BRILLIANT according to Harry Potter" lines, and my overtly friendly personality ("GO, DANG IT!"), there was enough wit and sarcasm flying around the table to make anyone laugh, even those of a more proper demeanor, i.e. Ms. Pot-Tee. Wayne said it! Not me!

Committed players wanted.

NO ONE won, and the reason why is because we did not have a committed 4th player. It was just AWFUL. Wayne, who played relatively well, had to excuse himself in the middle of the game for whomever it was that kept calling his cell... not to mention the mysterious text messages that he was getting, imploring him to love himself and to love others too.

Ben didn't actually come over to play MJ. He just wanted to eat the food (which by the way was really terrific) but graciously took over for Wayne for a little bit. Unfortunately, BEN'S commitment was equally questionable. Once his cell started going off, he left us as well.

It was disgraceful.

What can you do?

We obviously couldn't finish the game, but I suppose it didn't matter since Patty was winning WAIT, I mean since we had to catch up with the rest of the gang for Augie's birthday. Still, it would have been NICE to have played the entire game through. Mike, Patty and myself sat around on Patty's WAY COOL couch and hung out for a little bit, trying to decide what to do.

Barbara cruised by later and picked us *committed* MJ players up, and together we went to Guan Di, a really cool bar near AIT. My first night out in a long time. Just about everyone I knew was there. Just goes to show how few people I really do know in this town. Augie appeared to be enjoying himself immensely, it seemed he was surrounded by some rather friendly ladies...

By the time Razorfish David showed up with Toronto Rich and Toronto Judy, everyone was heading out to the next point of destination -- Vacuum Space. Though I normally would have loved to go dancing, I couldn't last yet another two hours, so the four of us went to play a mellow game of pool instead. That was fun.

A very nice Sunday in Taipei.

Razorfish David was shocked to find out that I wasn't planning to work today. Actually, I was too. But we ended up talking about ORIENTED anyway and how it compared to the potential of this site. The weather was absolutely gorgeous -- unlike the nasty snow storm we heard was going to hit the East Coast -- so we hung out at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial for a little bit and grabbed some food. Make that --> he ate, and I had my Starbucks coffee.

Settha had called earlier for Razorfish David to play basketball later on in the afternoon. I was undecided about whether or not to join them, but eventually David convinced me to tag along. That was fun. It's a small, small world... those guys knew each other at Brown...

Watching the guys play basketball reminded me so much of my life back in D.C. when I co-oped for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office during my sophomore year in college. It was funny. Even funnier was when one of the guys hurt his hand. Settha came to the rescue with his mini-emergency first aid kit. 'Twas an endearing moment...
