So I finally get a chance to write a journal entry, noting that yesterday WAS our initial launch date. But as with all web/tech projects, there are always delays and in this case -- with Christmas around the corner -- what can you do but sit back and take a breather.
Sometimes I look back at these journal entries and can't believe how long I have been able to keep the momentum going, and yet recently... just as we are at the point of launching... I've been feeling like I could really use some cheerleading at this time...
Oh well.
We'll see what happens.
Meanwhile, I'm home for the holidays and have been hanging out with the folks. Unfortunately for me, since I couldn't sleep on the redeye coming over, I pretty much slept the entire afternoon upon arriving to my parents' place and therefore was up until 5 a.m. the following morning.
Jetlagging from a domestic flight.
So ridiculous.
Meanwhile, my parents are like, SUPER PEOPLE.
Mom was up pretty late too baking chocolate chip cookies for our holiday guests (she's a night person as well), but what was truly shocking is that she got back up three hours later (the next morning) full of energy and ready to go again!! The woman has too much energy that it drives me nuts sometimes!!
Then yesterday I went to the gym with Dad for the first time in a long time and was surprised at how STRONG he is! He has always gone to the gym religiously since I was a kid, but I never actually thought much about it (didn't get into the habit myself until my mid-20s) nor have I ever actually SEEN his muscles until I watched him work out yesterday.
Scared the *bleep!* out of me.
My dad doesn't move all that fast -- the man is 61 years old and ain't all that big and tall, know what I mean? -- so to see him using all the equipment and really going at it with AUTHORITY kind of freaked me out.
Forty minutes later, I was ready to go.
He on the other hand, was going for his 32-lap swim.
Working out with my dad was one of the most bizarre experiences I have had in a long time, it took me the rest of the day to get over that image of him and I still sometimes wonder what goes through his head (he doesn't talk much).
That is one very disciplined man.
ANYWAY.
I haven't been particularly productive these past few days, running around with the family Copper Top Battery and Incredible Chinese Hulk -- okay I just made myself crack up big time, lol! - and then tonight we, I mean THEY, are having company (they are always having company over it seems!) which means that...
Well...
Let's just say that all second-generation, Chinese-Americans whose parents like to entertain their first-generation Chinese friends will know how to fill in the blank.
Gotta go play the role of the "good Chinese daughter"...
