"Prep work..."

Taking a break to write a journal entry.

I think what I'll do until the official launch date is to try and at least post up one photo a day of my day, with or without text.

Wayne threw a lovely dinner party last night at his place, saw Bo-Lai, met Billy finally (!), Sherman, Jack who was visiting from Taiwan, and Chris, Jun, and Eli from the NAAAP event... some of us stayed for an awfully long time just talking, and Bo-Lai later invited us to dinner at her and Billy's place on Monday evening.

Beyond that, and with the exception of family and other obligations, I'm turning down all other social invites and crawling back into my hole indefinitely until we officially launch.

Hope my friends don't hate me (or forget about me by the time I come back up for air).

One thing is for certain though.

I realize now that my leaving Very Busy Taipei and coming here to Very, Very Mellow Palo Alto was the best decision I could have made at this point in time, as I am no longer juggling my

  • Coordination duties with the Happy Hours
  • Taipei apartment responsibilities as the second landlord
  • Day job in spite of its light workload (still required daily attention)
  • Perpetual temptations to go out and party/hang/see people
  • And everything else that seemed to keep me pre-occupied all the time
Though I have been complaining out the WAZOO about how "boring" and "quiet" this area is, it is undeniably given me the opportunity to COMPLETELY clear my head, to get myself and my business 110% organized, and to think without inter-
ruption about what I need to do as I step into this new stage of both my life and my small business.

MANY thanks to Cindy and Kevin for letting me stay at the condo, to Nelson for letting me drive his SUV until he gets back to the area next year, to all the folks who have been helping me to run errands and getting me acclimated to the area, and to Howard Schultz for his really great idea (Starbucks).

I am especially thankful for Kevin's printer/fax/copy machine and the office stapler I recently purchased, both of which have turned out to be an absolute Godsend.

Who knew how important such things could be, eh?

Welp...

No more FUN entries for a long time to come...

Need to concentrate like never before.

I suppose it would be fair to put "self-motivated" on my resume, si?

By the way, it's really weird to look back at my life in Taipei and read up on what I was doing back then and seeing all the photos... seems like so long ago...
