I was up until 5 a.m. last night, rounding things off, and could only sleep three hours before my thoughts overloaded with the things I need to do, so here I am, starting the day off with a journal entry.
I keep putting off my personal things-to-do list for ORIENTED items (can't help it...). Once I get my laptop back (or get a new one, I don't care at this point...), hopefully I will get caught up with everything.
In the meantime, this is what prevents me from getting a good night's sleep:
Getting this was not easy as our developers had some difficulty obtaining one that fits our requirements and that also allows for mods but I finally got it THIS week and need to review! The faster I do this, the faster I can start to sell discounted ad space to interested parties prior to end-of-year site launch.
Solidify pricing model
This ain't so easy... On the one hand, we do have industry standards as guidelines (if you can call it that), but they vary significantly between the U.S. and Asia. But we also need to consider what OUR value is amidst current market conditions and factor in our mission/objectives as per Steven's recommendations as well... HELP!
Develop website content
The developers are waiting on me to provide them with "web copies" (site reference and page-by-page instructions content), that which I very much enjoy doing (wrote MOST of the info for the .ORG site) but I am having a VERY hard time focusing on this because I have been without an "office" for almost three weeks now and was in Beijing prior... ugh...
And, forwarding directory content is also becoming an ISSUE, due in large part because of Taiwan's incredulous inability (or should I say, unwilling- ness...) to just pick ONE system of romanization and use JUST that one! Gods...
Initiate trademark effort asap
Mike and I finished our TM plan just before I left Taipei and since then have initiated filings for Taipei, HK, and China, but the documents required of me is taking TOO much time as far as I'm concerned and again, I don't have a fully functional office (though hope to have that resolved by today) so this is crawling along as well.
Finalize guidelines for new organizers
And do a test-run with Leona Chen, the newest organizer to join our Tokyo team. We have one or two cities (and thus new teams) in the queue, need to finalize this asap, once and for all, so I need NOT have to duplicate my gosh darn training efforts yet again (nor should anyone else have to)...
Order, install and learn Quickbooks
Yeah... that too. I've used it before at my first job out of college but it's been a long time. Currently, I do NOT have a good grasp of what has happened to our expenses and thus how much more money I need to raise (which is perpetually in the back of my mind).
And I wonder why I can't sleep.
Let me remind myself here that I DO enjoy what I do, but not being grounded yet and having a limited (and rapidly diminishing...) budget to work with is making things just a LITTLE difficult for me, not to mention my latest LAPTOP problemo.
Meanwhile, I'm having to use my parents' 486... and they're on dial-up... and they do NOT have Microsoft Office... and... and... and...
Holy smokes...
Sigh...
Running out the door to buy a new PC (okay so NOW I am smiling... Dad finally agreed to replace this old one), print cartridges, file folders, phone splitters, desk lamps, and dozens of other things that I -- I mean WE -- need to get situated over here.
Even virtual offices need BASIC infrastructure, si?
May the Force be with me... help...
UPDATE ALERT: 9:30 a.m. 10/24/02 EST
I have NOT been receiving any ORIENTED emails to my Yahoo POP account for the past three days and have been *wondering* what the heck is going on, even submitted a nasty helpdesk request to my host provider asking them to PLEASE check our mail server... only to discover... ICK!!!
Oh NEVER MIND.
Backlog of emails... apologies for those awaiting my response.
