Today was the day I set aside to just have FUN and see people, and so I did.
First order of business (shame on me for saying that) was going to Barbara's BBQ up at her new house for lunch... it was her birthday and tradition dictates that she have a nice shindig at her place... and nice indeed it was!
I grabbed a bottle of champagne at the nearby liquor store to bring to Barbara's before meeting up with Acer Ginny at her place, and then Andrea swung by and picked us up, took us to Frank's place, and then Frank drove us up to the house. Did you get that? lol...
Saw everyone there including SHINN who was back in town to visit -- I'll be seeing him back in SF, yay! -- and had a really wonderful time.
Wow.
The bunch of us have really gotten close over the years, with my finally finding a set of friends who were NOT so transient, many with family here and of course I'd say that just as I am preparing to leave (oh the irony...).
'Twas nice to spend time with them if you can ignore the many retarded moments (please, no questions about the photos...) and Barbara, man that girl can COOK! Food was awesome.
Unfortunately, my pencam was giving me problems but others had taken pictures of the day... will have to get it from them... a few shots I kept:
Look what Ginny started... crazy girl... sigh... she can't help herself, lol...
I love these guys and will miss them dearly... sniff sniff...
"Next on the agenda..."
Bill and Shinn gave me and Acer Ginny a ride back down to the city, and oh my gosh, I don't know what got into me but I just couldn't stop laughing at Bill pretty much the entire way!
He drives around in this old GANGSTAH type car that rides more like a BOAT on wheels that actually suits him very well, and he was playing music in the car that had him bopping up and during the entire ride into town, fingers snapping away while his arms moved around left and right to the beat, grinning from ear to ear... the whole scenario was just so SILLY...
He was also wearing this HAT that I don't know... I don't know what it was but anyway, his "Life is Wonderful" attitude is just so funny and addictive... I started goofing around too and now I am writing an entire journal entry about it, sheesh!
Somebody shoot hit me please.
Anyway, just as they were dropping me off near my apartment, I get this random call from SUE, my old colleague from Citibank! She happened to be attending a trade show and wanted to see if I was around, she ended up coming back up to the office with me and helped me pack my things!!
Nearly ALL of it!
So unbelievable how a) nice people are, and b) everything just seems to fall into place for me. We even had extra time to grab a cup of coffee at the Starbucks across the street... and I didn't think we'd get a chance at all to catch up before I left. How nice.
"And the night was still young..."
Soon after I got back to the apartment, I changed, met up with Linda, and then together we headed off to Chillhouse for our 9:30 p.m. appointment -- basically, Acer Ginny and Andrea had arranged a going away thingy for me!!
GYOSH.
A little too much good lovin' going on over here... I need a vacation just to recover from all of this... lol...
Nice time we had, and lots of friends showed up... too many to name here but I did take an entire roll of photos -- yep, using a real 35MM disposable camera -- which I'll have to scan and post later. Nice to see everyone, and then some. =)
The coolest thing was the gift that Acer Ginny had prepared for me -- a PHOTO JOURNAL of all of our memories in Taipei, in which she asked everyone to send photos that they had of me and them to her and to sign the photo journal itself... kind of like a high school yearbook full of well-wishes from everyone, lol.
That was very sweet.
And it didn't stop there, as afterwards part of the party went to Plush and there, I started hurting, lol. But I refused to go unless Mike went, and Mike refused to go unless Patty went -- or something to that effect -- so anyway, we all WENT.
To be honest... this day was an incredibly LONG ASS day... lol...
