A totally mellow morning...

Of all days to feel a little under the weather, today is the day. I think it's because it was SO COLD last night, and since my bed leans up right against the window (probably bad feng shui), I woke up this morning with a dull headache. I also read some more of "Elements of Style" before going to bed and was reminded of how POORLY I write. That SUCKS.

Everyone was wishing each other Happy New Year this morning, and we had the annual "Back to work" reception at the Exhibition Hall. FREE FOOD. Yes. Several speeches and lucky draws were made for more HONG BAOS, and then each of us picked out our "good luck saying" for the new year. Here is what I picked:

I was psyched when I pulled this one last year because I really like the meaning. In English, it means "whatever you wish you for, you shall receive." Something like that. Do I believe in this stuff? Well... kinda. Been here too long not to. Now either this is a big CO WINKY DINK, or the Big Buddha is looking down on me favorably again this year. To that I say,

Cool Beans.

Gus is back in the house...

Gus just got back from the Philippines and gave me this little gift to put on my computer monitor. I call it... "Gus". The next time we have an earthquake, "Gus" will just fall off my monitor to let me know to dive underneath my desk. Cool. Hope no one steals it. I sent out today's EB a little late which was okay, since I'm sure people are returning to work with full inboxes. Speaking of which, the Internet was so SLOW this morning. I guess the whole island is surfing at the office once again. Ahh... does anyone ever work around here?

I also gave my desk a good clean over. It needed it. I love throwing things away without looking. Whatever I haven't looked at in two months must not be muy importante. Okay okay, so I'm in a weird mood today. I think it was the food I ate at the reception. It's now lunch time. I don't feel like eating a thing. Should anything terribly exciting happen this afternoon, I'll be sure to add it in. Otherwise, today is a totally mellow day.
