Sunday, January 28th

I'm back...

And I feel like a beached whale. Today is Sunday, my first day back in Taipei since I took off for Chinese New Years to do the family thing. I actually *profited* this year from the HONG BAOS which I didn't think I would, so that was a cool bonus!

For most of last week, I spent it at Wypoh's place with all the relatives on that side of the family. We basically locked ourselves in the house for two straight days like we do every year. We cooked, ate, watched HBO, talked, slept, and then did it all over again I don't know how many times, although by the last leg there wasn't that much more to say! LOL.

Check out all the CHOPSTICKS flyin' around!

On Chinese New Year day, we all had to get up by 7:30 a.m. and eat dumplings together, and in the afternoon, we got into three cars and went out to enjoy the sun. Uncle Michael lead the way so of course... we went to visit his latest construction projects. Yay. Finally, after everyone left, I helped myself to a can of Chef-Boy-Ardee Beef Ravioli. Please! No more Chinese food! Click on the picture for more photos at Wypoh's.

Saturday in Keelung...

On Saturday I went to Keelung for the traditional family reunion luncheon there. Agoon and Amah passed away a long time ago so for Dad's side of the family, the latest tradition is to get together on the weekend right after Chinese New Year. This gives each of the siblings (five sisters and four brothers including Dad) and their immediate families time to spend Chinese New Years with their spouses' families, if that makes any sense. Anyway, it works for me. Just tell me where to go and when and I'll be there like a good Chinese girl.

The only thing is that because the family is so HUGE and are scattered around Keelung and Taipei, we always have all-you-can-eat Chinese food. My favorite (not). Supposedly, I look more like Dad's side of the family. Click on the picture for more photos in the photo album, different from the set above. I had a great time both in Taoyuan and here. I guess I'm pretty lucky in that my relatives on both sides are all really nice people. Very generous too.

After lunch, we went to the hospital to visit San Goo Zhang, who was recovering from a serious brain hemorrhage that put him into intensive care two weeks ago. I was a little startled to see him in that condition. They had told me what happened but I didn't realize the extent of the situation. Makes one appreciate life even more. He is recovering quite nicely, thank goodness.

So late Saturday night...

I finally get back to Taipei. I talked to Adella for quite awhile, and then I played catch-up to just about everything. My bills, paperwork, emails, and also my old photo albums which I pretty much ransacked for the profiles of this site. I am SUCH a geek! I can't believe I have SO many photo albums though I am THRILLED to death that I can now put everything on this site. No more photo albums to lug around! Thank God.

I got up this morning and finished cleaning up my incredibly messy room. It feels great knowing that this site is ready to go. I'm still finding lots of grammatical errors and CRINGE at a lot of my writing, but at least now I need only write-up these journal entries. NO MORE SITE DEVELOPMENT... YAY! The whole project was well-worth the effort. Now I just have to make business cards so that I can promote the heck out of this site which promotes the heck out of ME and I'll be set. Gods. I need to get a life. A BOYFRIEND would be nice too!

Richard came back for Chinese New Year (how very traditional) while Ginny is in the States on business, so at the last minute we got to see each other for lunch today (Sunday) which was way cool. We went to the Thai restaurant at the Mandarina Hotel. He was telling me how he needed to get his #&*% together (he has stuff in Columbus, Dallas, Taipei, etc. and wants to move it all to his new place in San Francisco, LOL). Later on in the day I finished the EB for tomorrow and did a little more work with this site. It's been a lot of fun.

This break was much needed and I was SO THANKFUL that I got this site launched before taking off. All that SLEEP was a little TOO lethargic for me but it was okay. I suppose I needed it. Tomorrow is the start of a new year. Looking forward to it. Oh and by the way, Jim sent me an email explaining how he knew who Little Joe was. I can't talk about it here, but it absolutely cracked me up. Saved to my funny files.
